Krakow offers a wide range of accommodation options for students, from short-term options to solutions for the entire academic year. Here are the main possibilities:
1. Hostels – ideal for short stays or the beginning of your stay
If you are looking for cheap accommodation for a few days, e.g. during conferences or while looking for a flat, hostels are the most popular option.
2. Student Residences (Dormitories)
• Public dormitories: Belonging to specific universities (e.g. AGH, UJ, PK, UEK). Note: Students of a given university have priority. After the accommodation of students of a given university has been completed, you can apply for a place on a free sale basis for the remaining vacant places in student halls of residence.
• Private student halls of residence: Modern facilities with a higher standard. They often offer facilities such as a gym, co-working areas and high-speed internet.
Please note: PAN institutes do not have their own dormitories for doctoral students to use.
3. Renting a room or flat
The most common choice for students for a longer period of time:
• Single room: Renting one room in a larger flat. Prices depend on the neighbourhood and standard.
• Independent flat: The most expensive option, but one that offers privacy. To reduce costs, you can rent a flat with several people.
Advertisements for rooms/flats to rent are most often published on property listing websites or social media sites in groups related to flat rentals. You can rent a room or flat yourself or through a property agency.
