Action: payment of a scholarship for the best Polish and foreign doctoral students of the Krakow School of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies implementing doctoral projects in international cooperation as part of an international doctoral program, in particular aimed at obtaining a joint degree or double degree

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS NO. 2/2024 OF 01.08.2024

The aim of the activity is to provide financial support for doctoral students and to create favorable conditions for the implementation of doctoral projects in international cooperation, in particular those aimed at obtaining a joint PhD degree or a double PhD degree. To apply for a NAWA scholarship, a doctoral student must:
– have completed the first year of education,
– have an individual research proposal approved,
– reside on the territory of the Republic of Poland,
– not have suspended education,
–not extend the deadline for submitting the dissertation,
and carry out a doctoral project in international cooperation, in particular aimed at obtaining a joint PhD degree or a double PhD degree. One of the conditions for receiving the scholarship is that the scholarship holder must stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland during the entire period of receiving the scholarship, excluding the period of foreign mobility of doctoral students financed under the STER program and short-term trips, i.e. not lasting longer than 9 calendar days. The scholarship in the project will be awarded to no more than three best PhD students from Poland and three best PhD students from outside Poland, whose applications received the highest number of points in the competition procedure. Important! One scholarship for a PhD student from outside Poland has already been awarded, so there are two scholarships left in this category.
Planned scholarship payment period: from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

Before submitting the application, the doctoral students are obliged to familiarize themselves with the Regulations for the payment of scholarships for the best doctoral students of the Krakow School of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies implementing doctoral projects in international cooperation as part of an international doctoral program, in particular aimed at obtaining a joint degree or double degree, STER program – internationalization of doctoral schools, contract no. BPI/STE/2023/1/00027/U/00001.

SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS:

The beneficiaries of the call for applications will be selected through an open competition from among those KISD doctoral students who,from August 12, 2024 to August 30, 2024 time. 2.00 p.m., submit an application for a scholarship to the KISD Secretariat  (Kraków Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, Henryk Niewodziński Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, ul. Radzikowskiego 152, 31-342 Kraków, building no. 5, ground floor, room 5224). The application must be accompanied by:

1. Justification containing a description of the doctoral student’s current activities related to the implementation of a doctoral project in international cooperation and aimed at obtaining a joint PhD degree or double PhD degree, in particular:

  • the stage of implementation of the educational program in cooperation with foreign research units, in particular under double or joint diploma agreements, cotutelle, double degree, joint degree,
  • the doctoral student’s previous cooperation with a foreign research unit as part of the doctoral thesis being prepared,
  • possibilities of developing further international cooperation of the doctoral student,
  • the doctoral student’s previous cooperation with a supervisor or auxiliary supervisor from a foreign research unit,
  • the importance of international cooperation as part of the doctoral student’s dissertation for the research group in which the PhD student works,
  • information about joint publications created as part of the cooperation between the doctoral student and a foreign research unit.

2. Documents confirming the doctoral student’s previous activities, specified in point. 1.

3. Opinions of the supervisor(s) on the doctoral student’s current international cooperation, in particular the possibility of obtaining a joint PhD degree or a double PhD degree.

The commission has the right to ask the doctoral student for explanations or information in connection with the submitted application. Refusal or failure to provide explanations within the deadline set by the commission results in the application being left without consideration.
