Education, at the request of the doctoral student, is suspended for a period corresponding to the duration of:
• maternity leave,
• leave on the terms of maternity leave,
• paternity leave and
• parental leave,
specified in the Act of June 26, 1974 – Labor Code
The doctoral student submits an application to the Director of the Doctoral School. The application should be submitted no later than 21 days from the date of the circumstances giving rise to the right to leave. Documents justifying the suspension of the training period shall be attached to the application.
The Director of the Doctoral School considers the application within 14 days from the date of submission.
The doctoral student has the right to appeal against the negative consideration of the application within 7 days from the date of delivery. The appeal shall be lodged to the Director of the Unit being an institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences or to the Pro-Rector of AGH whose responsibilities include the mentorship over the training of PhD students – depending on the Unit in which a PhD student pursues his/her research topic.
During the suspension period, the provisions regarding the maternity allowance shall apply accordingly to the amount of the doctoral scholarship. The assessment basis of the allowance is the monthly amount of the doctoral scholarship referred to in Para. 3, which is due on the day of submitting the application for suspension.
